I'm not excited about a veteran just because he's a veteran. As long as the backup QB is going to suck anyway, why not go with the rookie? Neither are the Bucs excited about the veteran QBs. Trask was dumped, Leftwich was left on the sidelines and now Browning is dumped for a UDFA rookie.
I do expect Browning to be put on the practice squad and be the emergency 3rd QB. If Baker has to leave a game they'll have to roll with Daniels to finish up, but if there's a real need for a backup to fill in for a few games they'll have the option to go with Browning at that point if they choose that.
It was the right move for the team. If things go south then I'd turn the page on a lot of things and just see what you have in the rookie.

Browning looked terrible in the preseason. I am not sure I would keep him on the PS. I am almost certain a better QB option for PS is probably out there. Dude looked terrible all preseason.

If Daniels needs to come in for half a game or 1-2 games he is golden and Mayfield will be right at it. But if Mayfield is out for half a season then it would not matter who the backup QB is at that point.

I like Daniels, but the Bucs definitely make some odd moves on the back end of the roster. I get Daniels played better than Browning, but seems there had to be better competition out there for back up QB.

mayfield misses half a season then we are best off with Daniels anyway to get him some playing time in a wasted year
