An accurate grade on this draft won't be known until 3 years after the draft.

Sadly, with where the team is right now, we may never get an accurate grade on these guys. GM and Coaching changes that are likely next season will cause them all to be expendable if they  don't fit the new system.

There’s a reason the Bucs today are larger favorites to win the division than they were when the season ended.  Tampa will win at least 3 more games this season.  So there won’t be a coaching change next off season.

That is hilarious. This team is a 6-8 win team. That is its ceiling with the grinning moron on the sidelines. Wasn't it you that said Lamar Jackson was the best QB in the NFL (*eyeroll*)? This statement would make sense if it was you.

Best? No.  Hardest to defend??  Yes.  Lemme guess, you’re a Harbaugh guy.

I stand corrected. It was not you that said that. Apologies. And I agree Jackson is hard to defend.

Now to your question. No, I am not a Harbaugh guy. His tenure in Baltimore had become stale. I think some of his successes had to do with some of the coaching staff and talent on the field around him if I am being completely honest. It was time for him to go although I am curious to see how their choice to follow him performs as well as Harbaugh in NY.

Thanks for posting the link. Feldman is pretty respected for his knowledge of the college game and college talent. I still disagree with his take on this only because the draft could have been a phenomenal one with a couple of tweaks; instead it was a marginal one.

The Bucs always draft for value while he 49ers go the opposite direction year in and year out. But in the end it goes to show that drafted players have to be coached up and the 49ers have a better coaching structure.

happy to post the link.  Thanks for reply.

especially on draft evaluation (something I don't really follow) I am posting what I find because the discussion is interesting. Everyone has a different take and then it takes a while to see how it plays out.

what is the opposite way? You mean they identify a player they like and go get him?

I give us solid C

This draft didn't offer too much anyway. Bain, ok, good value, but it has to be seen if he can perform on NFL level. About the rest .... so so!

Precisely while the Eagles, Ravens and Bucs consistently draft for value. But it just shows that coaching still matters and one is forced to ask these questions. Would the 49ers be better if they drafted for value or is it part of their success as a result of drafting for fits takes precedence over value?  If the Bucs drafted for needs over value can they find players that are more pure football players than athletes like JTS and Hall?

Of course all the value players drafted by the Eagles, Ravens and Bucs still have to be good fits too. But the 49ers say forget value we are going to draft as many players we can throw at the board that fit our needs and let it shake out with our coaching staff.

If we look at this last draft by the Bucs they did draft for value but they also really focused on the football part of the equation far more.  I mean it still mattered to Licht for many years by drafting players that love football, but they ignored that aspect with some draft prospects due to sheer athletic value too so it has been a mix.

Bain has been described as a football film junkie but Scott is even more so a film junkie for football than Bain.  Trotter is in the same boat too and these players are hyper students of the game of football.

Hall and JTS were never described this way so this is what we can see has been a shift.

Still, the Bucs do draft athletic specimens with upside that need coaching like Capehart and Sharp.

The 49ers just want football players that fit their needs and they worry about value in other areas which is a big contrast.

The second and third round picks though aren't to write home about. I'd give them a C just because they fit positional needs but I'm not confident they are long-term starters in the NFL.

Those two round disappointed me, too. When they announced "Trotter" I spit my beer out all over myself.

I just knew Bucs were going to draft Anthony Hill JR.

To be honest this is where I was too. Not just due to the perceived flaws of the players drafted, but the entire draft class seemed weak sauce (solid, but not dynamic or dynamic, but injury prone, or dynamic with major question marks) for the players the Buccaneers needed. I did not see any sure-fire hits. This, of course, for a non-professional standpoint. I have fan glasses. My hope is that Licht found some good players who will flourish when coaches up.

Capehart B+

Very good athletic scores but will need coaching.  But he is also capable of playing some snaps too which is important to help out Vea and Kancey.  I wouldn't plug him as the future NT until he learns gap control, but he can probably play all over the line given his gifts in the mean time.

Josh Q seems fire up about him

He was a very good piece added that will help turnover the interior D-Line. Cannot wait to see him in action as I have very high hopes for him.

He kept showing up in my draft sims, so I looked into him several weeks before the draft. He’s pretty interesting, and has a lot of value/upside for where he was drafted. However, he was on a pitch count at Clemson until last season, from what I heard it was due to endurance. If he thought it was hot in South Carolina, he’s going to get another level of it in Tampa, so I hope he’s overcome that.

he has some crazy traits - not a quick first step - but a 4.85 40 yard dash at 315 (+) lbs is wild, and he’s strong & stout. He also has a motor and he can absolutely plug the run game. I’m sure they’re excited having him play behind Vita… he has the skills to pressure the pocket, seeing what Vita does may give him some insight?

Absolutely loved this pick.
