This was a garbage pick.

Compounded by trading up. Brain dead

Yeah weird pick.

I think they just have these niche roles they envision and they think it will work.

What was that FB/TE everyone hyped up we drafted in the 6th. Cut in camp and went on to play decent in cleveland.

Licht drafts very unorthodox. Not as unorthodox as Lynch in SF but still weird..

An accurate grade on this draft won't be known until 3 years after the draft.

Sadly, with where the team is right now, we may never get an accurate grade on these guys. GM and Coaching changes that are likely next season will cause them all to be expendable if they  don't fit the new system.

There’s a reason the Bucs today are larger favorites to win the division than they were when the season ended.  Tampa will win at least 3 more games this season.  So there won’t be a coaching change next off season.

So there won’t be a coaching change next off season.

In the other thread I just joked that Bowles might get an extension. Can you imagine the optics around here?

"Bain dropped into their lap"

Did Bain not drop in their lap?

B- grade. Bain himself is an A+ and Scott in the fourth is excellent draft value so I have that as an A grade.

The second and third round picks though aren't to write home about. I'd give them a C just because they fit positional needs but I'm not confident they are long-term starters in the NFL.

The only divisional foes that I think closed ground or may have passed the Bucs were the Panthers with their draft and free agency period.  The Saints threw a lot of draft resources at WR while they spent a lot of money on OL, TE and RB.  I mean Johnson and Fant is hard to beat as a dual threat in 12 personnel and they drafted Delp in the third.  The Saints also picked up Christien Miller on defense which will make their DL very hard to run on.   I was not a fan of the Falcons draft but I did like that they doubled up at LB.

So right now I would rank the Panthers ahead of the Bucs while the Saints did enough in the off season to be close or even on par with the Bucs.  The Falcons on the other hand seem to not have made enough progress and may take step back for the new coaching staff to find its footing.

Oh yeah, bad example maybe.

DEI?

(My joke about a hypothetical scenario was based in the truth that people mostly post things that support their stance, so its much more likely that any hypothetical defense improvement would be credited to the players . . .

. .by the same people who disputed that the defense lacked talent last season lol)

I would rank the Panthers ahead of the Bucs

Even if you put the player additions aside the Panthers should be ahead of the Bucs just by virtue of the Panthers players seeing themselves as ascending whereas many Bucs players might have doubts.

Early games for both will be big.

Those two round disappointed me, too. When they announced "Trotter" I spit my beer out all over myself.

let’s see if our new defensive vet FA’s & rookie draft picks can bring that nasty, motored-up, mean streak personality this team has been missing for 5 years.

The bodies are now there, it’s on the new faces, at old places to make a difference. I’ll be here for it.

Yeah, something tickled my memory and said that the Buccaneers were the favorites to win last season. Remind me again how that worked out.

Three more games?

11-6?

That would be one more win that Bowles has ever had with the Buccaneers. Why the optimism?
