Yeah appreciate your 4th quarter sequence there.
i guess i look at it like this
Bucs only scored 20 points.
The Saints up to that point points given up. They were 2-10 at the time.
- 20 versus Arizona
- 26 versus 49ers
- 44 versus Seattle
- 31 versus Buffalo
- 14 versus NYG -WIN
- 25 versus NE
- 26 versus Chicago
- 23 versus Tampa (albeit 7 was from defense, the warning signs were there this game)
- 34 versus LAR
- 7 versus Carolina -WIN
- 24 versus Atlanta
- 21 Versus Miami
- 20 Versus Bucs - WIN
The defense numbers were terrible second half of the year but the offense lack of points is why we lost
I think at 6-5, coming off 3 losses to tough opponents, we all expect this team to win their cupcake part of schedule. At worst, a 4-2 record to get to 10-7 while most of us had 11-6, some even thought a win out was possible.
The Cardinals game was telling and showed we still weren't out of our funk. But hey maybe Baker was just banged up, let's give it a go against a shit team like New Orleans but i digress....so maybe because of the offensive shitshow, i hold it against Baker but after all he is the QB of the team and in todays NFL, a different era then even 20 years ago, the QB has alot of control over this game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game was 17-17 heading into the 4th
3rd and 4, Baker scramble for 2 yards
4th and 2, we all want Bowles to make the call to go for it on Saints 46. Incomplete pass.
I dont remember the plays in detail but we had 2 plays to get 4 yards and couldn't do it. The turnover on down with Saints ensuing drive being a TD for them.
Next drive, we have it 1st and 10 at Saints 17 yard line and only leads to 3 points. Again the stupid false start penalty.
Defense forced a punt, Bucs got ball to win the game.
two incomplete passes to start drive, a Baker scramble to make 3rd and 4 and a Baker pass for 3 yards to Otton to turn over ball on downs
but the offense lack of points is why we lost
I think the difference between our takes is ONLY that I don't put that all on Mayfield and certainly not by artificially cutting the season in thirds.
The offensive play of Mayfield is why we won early in the season, so your position is sort of that Mayfield is "MVP" guy earl but later the reason they lost 11 games? So, he's the most wildly erratic QB in the league? I just don't see it, not when there is Grizz and Michael Jordan and Dan Feely etc.
My take is the offense was atrocious and injured last year... And Baker made it look way better than it was first half of the season

oh I never said it was all baker
I just had to rub my eyes when I was seeing the board blame everyone but him - Bowles, grizz, special teams, defense, 3rd and 28, injuries to offensive line, injuries to offense weapons, the same weapons returning being a reason, bakers injuries, etc
the Bucs collapsed after the 5-1 start so plenty to go around
baker being ineffective (i guess due to injury) was a major contributor. But again clearly just my opinion.
its more comforting to make excuses for the play for sure and I hope you are right. But some have over corrected so much on they board that I guess I over correct in the other direction
baker one of our best QBs in franchise history but with that only comes increasing expectations
I was disappointed after the 2024 season performance because I thought maybe we had a stud. That’s a QB we could win a Super Bowl with. I will get back with the program if baker is indeed only the 2023 guy but would just limit how far we can go given current roster and coaching staff
My take is the offense was atrocious and injured last year... And Baker made it look way better than it was first half of the season
Agree with the take.
And, for someone to suggest that "Baker was the main reason" for the slide at the end of the season, is borderline retarded.
Especially, when you factor in everything.

He's the main reason in that he went from carrying the team to not carrying the team... Which nets out to a solid but not great season.
Then he regressed with the injury... Not just to him but to key playmakers and the the make-shift line.
He basically had to play with what Herbert gets every year. Garbage line, below average play makers, underwhelming offensive play calling, and an injury caused by having to run for life nonstop.
With similar stats as Herbert, too.My take is the offense was atrocious and injured last year... And Baker made it look way better than it was first half of the season

But more wins.
Which kinda furthers the case for Baker performing in the top 10 QB’s.
As good as Herbert, better than Purdy or Love.

Both were early MVP candidates before the same set of injuries.
Herbert won more games and made the playoffs tho, but he had a much better defense
