I'd rank Baker at 12th on this list ahead of Lawrence.
I'd place Baker's future deal around $55m. He hasn't accomplished as much as almost all those on the list.
Before you criticize, think about all the QBs on the list and what they've done with their teams over the past three seasons.
there was never a doubt in my mind Baker would be at 50+ and $55M as likely but my view is he gets that whether he signs now or in February 2027 and whether he tosses 25 TDs or 40TDs.
the market value is set, it's about guaranteed money and number of years. I'm sure Baker came pushing for a 5 year deal as an example.
The Bucs could sign him now, he could tear his ACL or he could revert to Cleveland Baker.....and we could have had 2026 to assess so i'm not sure why Bucs would be in a rush with 0% chance of him playing somewhere else next year if they desire to have him in Tampa in 2027.

The only point I was making was that contracts are negotiated looking forward. A few years go the idea that Mayfield might get $40 sent many to the moon. He got $33 but even $40 is average-ish these days. 50 or 55 APY will be average soon enough.

I think there’s a chance they do it before start of season but obviously on record as I don’t think that’s the prudent thing to do

Still think (75%) it gets done thisbseason, but sometime after camp.
If anything the negotiating scale has to be tipped in Mayfield's favor at least a bit because the Glazers would never want to be the team that has never had stability at QB that then turned away a franchise QB

he won me over in his very first game. Sealing the deal on the road against the favored Vikings with some clutch plays through his arm and legs
that doesn't negate me questioning to reward the guy with 200M+ after paying some of the worst football in his career, and definitely Bucs tenure in the last half of 2025 season.
Again injuries to both he and offensive line likely contributing factors but he unfortunately isn't a guy that gets benefit of the doubt given his lackluster career so far.
