I think you are a right and I agree with Kirwan on this point. It could be very much the reasoning behind stiffening up on contract negotiations and would be a typical Tampa move. I personally think Bowles is DoA. I think they already know they are moving on from him after this coming season and they didn't want to hitch the new guy with any aging veteran contracts on players he didn't choose. I think it's very plausible.These kind of player contract challenges are one factor that could have factored into keeping Bowles for 2026 because most good HC candidates probably would NOT want to be the new coach who ran all those legends out.

After the 2026 season Bowles will have almost doubled average NFL coach tenure and been through a full "rebuild" from the Super Bowl team complete with the transition of many veterans. It will be time for a change absent some remarkable turnaround that i dont see happening.
