The Rams are trying to win another superbowl and are betting favorites.
They were the betting favorites prior to yesterday. Which is why I question the move for the Rams. Sometimes when you try to outthink the room, you get an aging vet with a pec injury who doesn’t play and you are out significant future draft capital.
Rams i think were betting favorites last year and lost to the Seahawks. They were right on the door step in a year where the Patriots and Seahawks were in the Superbowl. They have a sour taste in their mouth.
Verse was good but is not near the player that Garrett still is. Grant it, it's 2-3 more years of Garrett greatness then likely shit but that is their window, the next 2 years and i wouldn't be surprised if they took it all this next year. This move put them on a tier all by themselves.
This move put them on a tier all by themselves.
Agreed. If Garrett stays healthy.
oh of course, Stafford needs to stay healthy too
Garrett doesn't seem too injury Prone to me - 17 games in 2024 and 2025, one game missed in 2022 and 2023, 17 games in 2021.
it's not like he's Calijah Kancey who has missed 14, 5, and 3 games respectively. if he had that track record, yeah it would be foolish to rely on him as a full time starter.
Seems pretty short sighted by the Rams. Browns fans have to be ecstatic!
short sighted is good some times
remember when the Bucs did that with Brady, worked out well
remember when the Rams did that with Stafford, Von Miller, etc. Worked out well.
Rams realize their window is the next 2 years and just saw a team with Sam Darnold win the Super Bowl. It's there for the taking and wide open, you have to applaud them for going all in.
Bucs wont go all in again until we sign Mahomes in 10 years.

I bet the Rams to win SB61 at +850 a couple of months ago. Now at +600. Clear favorites. Of course anything can happen, playoff upset, key injuries, fluke plays, untimely turnovers, etc, but I like my chances.

I'm not much of a gambler because even when things look like slam dunks, doesn't always work out but it appears the LA Rams are taking a page out of the LA Dodgers book and it has worked out nice in baseball at least
Health will be key but not a bad bet by any stretch. I am wondering if we can forfeit the game against them this year, just use it as a bye week, take the L and let our guys rest up.
I'm not much of a gambler either, but when I see something I like, I put a few bucks on it. The Rams bet is only $20, but pays $190. I've bought $20 scratchers that busted, so I like my chances. I put $5 on Wenbanyama a few months ago to be the Western Conference MVP at +1000, paid $55, nice win. They only had to get past OKC which they were 4-1 against during the season. Came through in game 7, and Wemby is becoming a top player in the NBA. I put $20 at +200 on the Knicks to be NBA champs after they swept the Cavaliers and thought, shit, I need to put more and bet another $20 on them right away. They are in the midst of an unprecedented heater never seen in NBA playoff history. Maybe I should be another $20!!!
remember when the Bucs did that with Brady, worked out well
not only did it work out well but at a much lower cost. Didnt we just sign Brady (no trade) as a free agent and traded a modest sum for Gronk? The Rams have multiple picks involved in their trades for some of their key players. 4 picks for McDuffie, I think? a top drafted player and 3 picks for Garrett.
Definitely a now versus the future thing, so sort of like a more expensive version of the Bucs 2021 sign everyone back season
MG in that division is going to have problems. The Cardinals have Jeremiah Love/Allgeier and they are going to lean on that running game. The Seahawks are going to pound the rock again not a mystery what they are doing. The 49ers? Yeah CMAC.
I do not think this was a good trade for the Rams because Verse was on his rookie contract aka cheap which hamstrings them from adding players next season even if Stafford plays one more year.
For the Browns? They made out like bandits. Verse who is an ascending player playing next to Mason Graham, Collins and Wright. Behind Verse you have Schwesinger, and the stealthy pick up of Quincy Williams this off season as a free agent.
Browns have plenty of talent in the secondary.
The problem with the Rams is that they are a very good team but the 49ers and Seahawks this off season out maneuvered them with their off seasons respectively.
The 49ers started their youth movement last year and it paid off as the injuries mounted as the young guys came in clutch as their veteran starters went down. Now those young players are more seasoned and their starting vets are back and healthy. 49ers have defensive depth that will help them compete again for a double digit season.
The Rams are focusing on stopping the pass but the teams in that division are going to pound the rock. If that Rams front seven can't stop the run it will not matter if they picked up MG, Watson and McDuffie.
dont know how true it is but Aaron Donald mulling over a return.
now that would be ridiculous
Rams have an elite coach. We have a below average coach.
Talent and management elsewhere are pretty dang even.
Stafford over Baker is a fairly big delta but I'm not so sure Stafford can stay healthy two more seasons. We shall see.
But again the main difference in being super bowl favorites comes from coaching and better drafting the last 3 years (not counting this year... Rams whiffed).

I don't know about even talent elsewhere; seems like a stretch.
let's just go through it
HC - McVay top 10 coach, Bowles bottom 10 coach
QB - Stafford top 5 guy, Baker - top 18 guy
so we admit those deltas
RB - Kyren Williams a perennial 1200 yard guy the last 3 years. had just 1,144 in 12 games in 2023 but you get my drift. Bucky was a dawg his rookie year but injuries aside took a step back in his sophomore season. Let's chalk it up to injuries along the offensive line but until he shows rebound on the field, he is not on the same playing field as Williams
WR - I mean Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. This is not even a discussion and our WR core is one of our strengths
TE - Did you see those Two drops in prime time that Otton turned into INTs, one a pick six. Painful to watch but aside from that Rams have one of the deepest TE groups in the league - higbee, Parkinson, etc.
OL - First edge that the Bucs get is offensive line with Wirfs and Goedeke leading the way.
DL - Kobie Turner, Brandon Fiske, Poona Ford versus Vea, Kanc....scratch that he just got hurt again, Roberts, and Robinson. Rams get the edge here
Edge - Okay to be excited with Bains but let's be real....Garrett and Young are the best in the league
Linebackers - I'll give the Bucs the edge here with Anzalone and Rozeboom but neither teams LB rooms are different makers
Secondary - Trent McDuffie, Kam Curl, Kamren Kichens, Jaylen Watson, and Quentin Lake versus McCollum, Smith, Winfield, Morrison, and Parrish. this is close for me but got ot give the slight edge to the Rams here
I mean i dislike Bowles as much as the next guy but apples and bowling balls in terms of talent on each team
This was one of those trades where both teams won.

Hc - massive edge rams
QB - edge rams
RB - even
Wr - slight edge to Rams (Stafford arm and McVay system are huge influences here)
TE - even it's all system with the Rams not talent
OL - edge Tampa
DL- with Garrett this NOW becomes a massive gap but it prior to the trade was closer with Bain
LB - edge Tampa
CB - edge Rams but I think McDuffie falls off a cliff quickly
S - Tampa by a decent margin
K - massive edge Tampa
P - push slight edge Rams
The Rams talent is very old so that's why they get the edge but that won't last forever. There's no way all these vets last all season.
Overall slight edge to Rams on talent but I truly think much of the talent would struggle elsewhere.
Adams didn't do shit in NY/Oak
Kyren Williams isn't better than a healthy Bucky
It's amazing what a great offensive mind can do
