It didn't matter in the end because they both ended up being backup QBs but that why PR lobbied hard for Winston and it's why Winston was the choice over Mariota.
I think of other players and I can't help but wonder how much of a factor that played with VH3, Aguayo, etc.
Not sure that decision had much to do with college affiliation. I was stoked about us drafting Jameis as was I that you drafted Hargraves (I will always love rewatching him stonewall CMAC in Carolina to beat the Panthers). Fact is, Bain is the type of player where you know you have something without having to do much scouting. He's a damn dog and we should all be thanking the football God's that his is ours.
The only thig I remember about Bridgewater last season was taking JMac out and almost ending JMac’s career. Next thing he is on the team.

he was on the team for good as soon as he signed
The Bucs didn’t hold trask in high regard. He didn’t show enough in 2021 or 2022 to supplant gabbert as #2
He was #2 to Baker in 2023 and 2024 but they didn’t have any confidence at all him to play when team was struggling or baker really hurt
now we saw just how bad teddy looked in the rams game last year, but I don’t hate that they were trying to upgrade backup position
judging by trask being out of league, it’s not like they made a vastly wrong decision; they just both sucked
