It's not true. What Prisco and Co. "reported" on March 9th was blown up by Licht on March 18th when he admitted the Bucs first offer was "significantly" more money than Evans signed for in SF:

Licht isn't your typical GM. He brought back the entire 2020 superbowl team because he was living on cloud 9. Look how many times we brough back Evans, Godwin, David already. He doesn't care about injuries or age, the dude is more a super fan then he is analytics...and honestly i like that sometimes.
With tons of injuries (more than Tampa) San Fran did something last season in the toughest division in football that Tampa has only done 3 times in their 50 year history I believe. They won 12 games. Evans is going to kill it in Shanahan's offense. Baker is going to make another OC a head coach.

If it were the same offer as SF, the difference in state taxes alone would have made it an 8% to 10% better offer to stay. Mike taking it meant he left for his own reasons (whether offended by the offer, or 3 & 28, or both)… right?
