i heard that option being floated....making this season guaranteed but i am not sure that makes Vea happy.

This is the key point about Vea's situation because the Bucs have done versions of this (guarantee and/or one season raise) with multiple players, but you're right it might not work for Vea, so that maybe raises the possibility of a trade.

1. a trade

2. force him to play his current deal

3. extension

4. compromise by guaranteeing his current salary or giving him a raise this season (or both)

Which one do you choose?

100% trade him.

If they were going to, it would be soon? Most likely before the season? if so that answer is coming quickly

and then you also limit how far this team can go this year, but i suppose many posters suggesting to trade, already think we are limited with incompetent Bowles leading the team.

with Vea, likely can get 9,10 wins, win division, lose playoff game

without Vea, likely closer to 7,8 wins, miss playoffs

Cant speak for them, but the posts suggest some of that (in bold), but also just an understanding the downside to contract extensions for a 31 year old DT, especially IF a trade yields some value.

I would say its a possibility and potentially the right move for the team depending on the trade.

Like it or not that team is already in an an obvious transition.

Vea likely has another good year or two left.  No doubt clock is ticking.  So really depends how reasonable he is in negotiations.  If he wants Jaelen Carter type money then time to trade him but i doubt we'd find a taker willing to give him that so will make trading him harder.

also depends on trade value.  A 4th round pick?  Ehh...

I'd imagine that Vea's camp didnt just wake up here in the Summer with this so hopefully they made the Bucs aware back in March....but then the Bucs didn't really do much to make up for the loss of Vea at least as it comes to the competitiveness of the 2026 season
