There will be cap consequences down the road.
Again, waiting for the details.
But, they don't appear to be in a position to let the whole amount to hit their 2027 cap.
So, more dead money incoming.
Okay, so it looks like the real details are out.
As I had suspected, they added void years.
With this one, it's 5 void years, to spread out the cap hit on the $21.4M bonus.
Frees up over $17M in cap space for this year (which can be rolled over to next year).
So, we’ll have Vea on the books until 2032.
Does this mean that for cap purposes the $21.4 is split evenly across the years 2027 to 2023?
From my understanding, it’s 5 void years.
So, it’ll start in 2028.
It's almost like the Bucs FO manages things well enough that they never really lose players they want to keep. Every offseason there's some angst but it seems to always resolve.
yeah exactly. would think Baker falls into that category as well
Evans may have been the first one in quite a while that they lost and "wanted to keep" but i remember thinking Evans (or Godwins) days were numbered as soon as they took Emeka "Egbigboo" meaning 2025 was the last year of that dynamic all time duo
Evans may have been the first one in quite a while
FWIW, the Mercury News on the injury and role as WR2?
"It would be really nice to see Evans consistently practice in full at this point, but both Inman and ESPN’s Nick Wagoner appear mostly unconcerned by today’s development. Per Wagoner, Evans stopped practicing after running a deep route on Sunday. Evans “seemed to be moving fine” after exiting. Wagoner adds that it is “clear he and the Niners want to be cautious to get him to the regular season ready to go.” Evans’ soft tissue concerns remain present, but as long as he takes the field on game day, he is a WR2 with WR1 upside."

i mean Evans had 1 good game last year out of 8 (grant it Detroit cut short in late 2nd quarter with 0 catches to that point). He didn't surpass 60 yards in any of the other 7 games.
where i think it will hurt is in the redzone. He was quite the weapon there
Maybe he can get back to 2024 levels - 10 regular season games over 60 yards not including the 92 yards and TD in his playoff game.
I hope he does well, but its just reality that these kind of muscle issues are common for an aging, striding runner.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Seattle and defensive lineman Leonard Williams have agreed to a three-year extension.
Rapoport notes the deal is worth $90 million.
It's probably too early to say this but right now it's ok that Evans chose to go to the 9ers. He's definitely got miles on him and I think it will be tough to have him in the lineup consistently enough to get his numbers but I hope he does well. We also probably wouldn't have been able to sign Vea? Maybe I'm wrong. We also have a number of weapons on offense. He would have been great to retire as a buc but he doesn't get his numbers this year on this team. Would have been nice to have the depth because as we see injuries do happen but you can't make everything work. He will be back one day and we will forget about the 9ers.
. He will be back one day and we will forget about the 9ers.
most likely
although maybe it’s just me, I know Brady and Gronk will always be known by rest of NFL as Patriots but I feel like they are pretty fond of their time in Tampa.
it’s almost like it’s a coin flip who they like more and that would crush me if Evans is like that after he retires!

This is spot on.
As much as I don't like that Evans is gone, the move is potentially great for both sides.
Whether Evans is healthy or injured some this year, he stands a better chance of getting the receptions he reportedly wants with the 49ers because they are trying to feature him. The Bucs offense should be a widely distributed short passing game.
In the same respect, the Bucs would have been giving up substantial dollars and cap space and even development time for younger receivers had they paid Evans enough to keep him here. And because he is reportedly chasing receptions and is a HOFer there would have been substantial pressure on Mayfield to get him the ball when he is on the field. Thats great when Evans is in peak form, but maybe not so much in a potentially dinged-up 2026
On balance, good for both. He will be back.
Evans leaving Tampa was mutually beneficial. Whether analysts want to own up to it or not, Tampa is a better franchise today than San Fran is. They have an injury problem that isn’t sustainable even with the best offensive play caller in the business. And, these injuries won’t stop any time soon.
It’s an adage shared with me by my Grandpa, “You don’t get better by getting worse….”
It’s weird…

2025 - 49ers go 12 -5 , win a playoff game, lose the next round. Have worse injury issues than Bucs.
2024 - 6-11, sucky year.
2023 - go 12-5, make it all the way to Super Bowl with current coach and QB, lose to Chiefs
2022 - go 13-4, lost in the conference championship game, QB and back up QB gets hurt
2021 - go 10-7, make it further than the Tom Brady 13-4 Buccaneers and lose in the conference championship game
im sorry, and i know we have 2 Super Bowls to their 0 in the last 25 years, but there is no universe that the Bucs are a more talented or better team in the last 5 years and that includes a couple Brady years
so ok, give Bucs 2020 Superbowl, but 49ers went 13-3 and lost in Superbowl in 2019. Since they had different starting QBs back then, is why i am "cherry picking" last 5 years. Bucs have been a marginal barely over .500 squad under Bowles.

Today we are the better of the two franchises. That’s all any fan should care about. Our game with them last season wasn’t as close as the scoreboard, and again, when you build your house with aged materials, don’t be surprised if it loses its foundation.
I love Shanahan and Lynch is a solid GM. They just have an odd philosophy IMO on building for this current window. They are one of the oldest offenses, if not the oldest offense in the league.
Also, York is a complete embarrassment.
I don’t know a ton about the mobile home game, but I do know in every mobile home park, like every flippin’ last one of them, there is a local Susie, who will break you off for a carton of Marlboro reds…
This dude is a total clown and a stain to their logo and franchise.

I don't know, it sounds like you know a ton about trailer parks.
It is, in fact, weird.

you mean the game they played with their backup qb last year lol
Evans left to go to a perceived better team.
can you find me a power ranking that has us ahead of the 49ers heading into the year ?
