With so many of our OLBs shining either against our young or injured tackles, or during the Jets practices… I’m wondering where Yaya is? Is he beating the likes of Goedeke with a bend around the outside like Bain Jr., or a spin inside Skule or Chukwuma like Walker or Muhammad? I’m not hearing anything. I’m hoping these young bulls carry this outside pressure. Maybe Yaya will pickup a few sacks when they run QBs into him?
According to JBF and PR Diaby has made plays during off season activities and training camp. But his game is really about power and it shows more as a game goes on wearing down tackles. That nice thing with Bain is that he has a combination of speed and power. Similar with Mohammad and Walker is full of juice so the Bucs finally have a diverse rotation at edge.
So he will be what he’s always been… good against the run and average in pass rush. Like I said the day we drafted him, he is more of a 4i DE than an edge. He’s never shown me otherwise.
6 sacks, 15 pressures, 18 TFL type season. Hope he does more but Walker seems like he will steal snaps

yeah the question comes if YaYa does his typical output....call it 6-7 sacks, etc.; do the Bucs just let him walk?
Walker has been impressive but would like to see how that translates to the regular season
with Vea still upfront, interested to see how Bain performs? dude has already been mounted on the mount rushmore of Bucs by some...so the expectations are high. Hope we got ourselves a cornerstone for years to come here.

isnt this why he is very likely gone after this season? Someone will pay him more than us, especially if he really breaks out this season over past

but then what if he produces like 15 sacks!

Given he is a top pressure leader in the NFL that is seriously a bad take.

Diaby is a solid #2 edge rusher but I am not sure he is worthy paying as a low end #1. Bucs made that mistake with McCollum so we shall see.

And, I’m willing to bet Walker makes him expendable.
At the very least, that’s what we should be rooting for.

He wasn’t Top-15 in the category.

Licht keeps his players. I think part of that is self-serving. IE look how many of my picks make it to the second contract. Otton is a perfect example and if he's staying then I don't see why he would let Yaya walk even after a mediocre season.
Yaya is in a contract year so logically he should play better. Who knows tho

Lets all hope we have that problem!
@alldaway - okay. I’ve explained QB pressure analysis on here many times. But thanks for your football IQ.

I think your pressure numbers are low, seeing as he's had 70 & 62 respectively over the last two seasons. His pressure rate during those two seasons averaged 14.25%. So he should easily bypass 15 with a couple hundred pass rush snaps. But the other numbers would be solid.
I tend to agree that Diaby is a solid #2, excellent #3 edge rusher. He's not Batman, but he can definitely be Robin.
