Size and strength are Vea's edge which is why he has a shot of earning another contract with the Bucs. If Kancey stays healthy Vea is going to feast and Kancey will feast too.

But ultimately we circle back to a point made earlier and that is the current stage of lifecycle for the Bucs is "aging SB veterans"

Well you can't have an entire team of young guys. Better to keep around some old time Bucs vets than bring in a merc who is iffy loyalty wise.
This is true and always the tricky part when it comes to aging veterans. I still think Vea plays at an unbelievable level in run defense. As long as the talent around him is focused on pressuring the QB, he will be a vital part of that front line as he always is. I suspect with the addition of Bain, Robinson, and perhaps even Capehart, keeping Vea around would be a good thing. I just don't want them paying out the wazoo to keep him here at this stage in his career and perhaps limiting what they can do to fill needs later on.Well you can't have an entire team of young guys. I was thinking of it though in terms of allocation of resources.
So, for example, If you have two second or even third con tract tackles on the line then you need some first contract or inexpensive interior lineman.
I was also making the point about SUPER BOWL vets. Thats different than just a vet. They let LVD play a season or two too long, as one example. So, Is Vea maybe the same situation? Maybe not, but the team has to deal with this type of player a little differently. Differently, because the handling of that type of player impacts fan (and player) perception of the team.
Anzalone is a older guy. Vea is a SUPER BOWL vet.
