Despite all that if Egbuka turns his around he catches a pass from Mayfield. If Mayfield is more mindful he doesn't throw those late quarter INTs in important game. Players may not control circumstances but at the end of the day the players had a chance to get this team over the hump and they failed which is why Bowles had that tirade and dropping those F bombs. Arians laughs because HE KNOWS that this team needed a swift kick in their ass to avoid the collapse. But I guess that is a lesson learned from Bowles and importantly the players that they have to hold each other accountabile.

special teams and defense being bad/average had nothing to do with offense not being able to muster up more than 17-20 points each week. And somehow the defense still pulled out 2 wins against Carolina and Arizona with such an anemic offense performance.
One thing that was eye opening was how "not in game shape" teddy brigewater was in that Rams game. Holy heck.

The Bucs won multiple games early in the season despite special teams blunders in their early run of 2025. Despite Bowles questionable calls late in games Mayfield and the players still made plays to win the games that were tight.
Teddy Bridgewater was hyped up but I think Trask could have given the Bucs a win or 2 which would have punched their ticket into the playoff last year. Younger fresher legs are often better as backup QBs to surprise teams for a small stretches of time. That is how the Dolphins operated under McDaniel as they trotted out Skylar Thompson like this to catch teams off guard with Tua out so frequently.
Browning is better served for longer stretches of time with more game planning involved so if Mayfield is out for an extended period of time then Browning is the best to navigate that period. I just think Browning isn't going to come in off the bench and win a game for you as he is older now.

Yeah the 2025 season was a perfect storm of everything that could go wrong. A vet like Teddy had no business throwing that ball that way. But the Steeler defender didn't need to crash into McMillan like that over a pre season game either.

A lot of teams have a lot of unproven WRs and rookie WRs that could shake things up so we will see. But if Tez Johnson and Hurst progress as well then the Bucs have an edge over a lot of teams in the NFL with thei overallr WR group. So yeah top 5 WR group is very possible.

Then last year, injury riddled year, looks liked running in mud but only played in 9 games and amassed 360 receiving yards. So yeah, we love us some Chris Godwin but until he shows it on the field here in 2026, he is a shell of his former self.
Jalen McMillan looked formidable his rookie season. 8 touchdowns. He missed 4 games however due to multiple hamstring injuries. Then obviously 2025 a concern with only playing in 4 games due to broken neck. Just like the great Mike Alstott, this dude is one tackle away from no longer playing. But alas the Potential is there, the question is can he stay on the field?
Emeka Egbuka burst onto the scene his rookie year. His first 9 games were 677 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns. His next 7? 253 yards and zero touchdowns and only topped 50 receiving yards once compared to 6 times in his first 9 games. What happened? it wasn't a lack of targets so hopefully just a rookie wall and he will bounce back from second half disaster this year.
Listen the potential is there but this group is maybe top 15 entering the year with potential to maybe be top 10; but that top 10 would assume at least 2 out of 3 guys amass 1,000 receiving yards something none of them have done to date and in Godwins case the last 2 years.

Huge Godwin fan AND agree with the general sentiments about his "determination and work ethic" and HOPE he is "top notch and back to his elite self" in 2026, BUT THAT is obviously a pretty fair unknown at this point. He had a very substantial injury and he is 30.
This is the same point about Evans. He has been ELITE in every sense of the word for years, but its fair to wonder if he would be that in 2026 at his age and after a couple repetitive injuries. I think his best chance is with the 49ers (not the Bucs) for several reasons (offense, QB, CDC, team) not the least of wish is the EXTRA motivation to prove doubters wrong. He didnt have teams swarming him and offering"27 million" (the "leak" allegedly from his camp). I don't think he has that same intensity of motivation in a 2026 season with the Bucs.
