Read-Option: We’re On To Cleveland
I tried out a new way to get video content to you all this week, and unfortunately it didn’t let me get a few of the clips I would have liked to.
For example, there were two plays that had to do with play design that were just brilliant. The first was when O.J. Howard caught his pass to get the Bucs to the goal line right before Martin’s score. It was a layered play that left the Jags helpless. Following that, there was a play where the Bucs went four wide receivers wide with two “security blanket routes” which offer up such a high success rate for Winston. The offensive play design has been great through two games, and i wanted to make sure that was noted, video or not – I’ll get it fixed for next week.
There was also a couple videos breaking down the defense giving up those “should have been” touchdowns which were dropped by Keelan Cole and Allen Robinson. In the end, I think Chris Conte might have been at fault on both of them. Hargreaves appeared to be covering Cole on the first pass as if Conte had the middle of the field and didn’t, and on the second play, Conte did have the middle of the field, but was slow to react – although he did break up one of the passes. Just my observation, however, I don’t know the play responsibilities for certain.
But, beyond all that, what did you think?
The defense pitched a shut out in the first half, and the offense honestly should have had at least 20 points.
Who were your top performers, and what did you learn from this little breakdown here?
