Tampa Bay has yet to have any COVID-19 opt-outs, and PewterReport.com has previously reported that no Buccaneer, including left tackle Donovan Smith, has notified the team of his intentions to opt out. NFL players have until August 4 at the earliest to declare their intention to opt-out.

Players that opt-out of the season will forgo their 2020 salaries and bonuses and will receive a $150,000 stipend instead, which would be treated as a salary advance. If players that opt-out have an underlying medical condition they could would receive a $350,000 stipend in place of their 2020 salaries and bonuses, but that would not be treated as a salary advance.

Here is a list of the NFL players that have publicly opted-out of the 2020 season:

Stole the words right from my mouth. I thought the exact same thing. Bill playing chess while the rest of the league playing checkers. This reeks of throwing the season

That and my first thought is the Pats know it’s gonna be a looooooong season with Cam being the best they got under center.

Another reason why having Brady is huge for us. All his teammates watching him bust his ass at 43 to go all in to win this year. How many players on this team are going to look at Brady and say I don’t want to play this year. None of them want to pass up the opportunity to play with him. Nor do any of them want to let him down seeing all the work he’s putting in. Bet my life we’re at the top of the list of teams with the least opt outs

Only problem with NE tanking for the #1 pick is the Jags might beat them to it.

Really don’t care what rest of NFL teams do or don’t do. I’m only concerned about the here and now as it pertains to our Buccaneers. Besides, we can’t do anything about it anyways. Go Bucs and go hard!

I have a question: If a player decides to play, and gets infected, does he still get paid his guaranteed money if he has to be quarantined or hospitalized?
