White was a clown. I am not defending him. He was an asshole. I am only saying that a player like him (eg Trotter) can succeed AS WHITE DID in that role in Bowles defense.
White did SUCCEED. That is a FACT. You are saying he "graded" poorly, which i think means the grading of PFF. Fair enough.
White has the Super Bowl and All-Pro and the playoff run and the 2020 stats and just the vision test, as compared to someone like SVD or even 2025 LVD. White was the emotional leader of a defense (for better and WORSE) that went the distance and that played a big part in the final outcome. .. a Super Bowl victory. Last year we ACTUALLY (ie for real) had one of the worst LBer in the league, didn't even sniff the playoffs.
Thats the difference right? to get to your opiion on White you have to discount most of those REAL things that actually happened as a mistake or luck or attributed to someone else. So . . "he didnt deserve to be an All-Pro" or "the Bucs won the SB because the Chiefs line was injured" or "it was all LVD" . . . or . . "he only got those sacks because" Bowles schemed him open? (Bowles? Thats an obvious contradiction, right?). That discounting could be correct, but the volume alone says maybe not? As does the contradiction? Maybe we won a Super Bowl with "one of the worst LBs in the league," but that "worst LB in the league" was pretty dominant in the season and even more so in the playoff run and had 12 tackles and a game sealing INT in the actual SB. Enough to be voted an All-Pro. He was also a loser and a head case, but that doesnt mean those things did NOT happen in 2020.
But, back to my actual POINT . . IF one of your arguments against White was true (White's sacks were just Bowles scheme) then that would bode well for Trotter, especially playing behind Bain and Diaby and hopeful a healthy Kancey (like White behind Suh, Vea, JPP and Barrett)
