I refuse to believe Mike is leaving
And if he does it means something heavily sucks here
My boy Evan winter just wrote an aritcle saying if we bring Evans back very unlikely we can get Trey Hendrickson.
i wish we could somehow with restructures.
who of the 2 would you prefer?

this was the point of a recent Fab 5. The Bucs have a lot of $ committed to a number of players and so even with restructures they'd need to maybe trade someone to afford one of the big name edge rushers.
Evans means more than Hendrickson so if you choose one, it’s Mike
I think anyone thinks we will be good on offense without Mike is looking at an extremely small sample size of like 2 games last year

The Bucs probably think they can add a guard and a RB with that money but ignoring ME size on the perimeter.

Its not as stark a contrast as you create (Evans v no Evans) because the question for The Bucs is really balancing Evans's availability versus the $ commitment with scarce resources. Do they pay $23 million (or whatever) of their limited cash for a guy who could play 8 games? The added challenge is, of course, that he is a Bucs legend AND he could come back and play 17 and put up 1200 yards and 12 TDs.
The Bucs offense can definitely win without Evans, but even if you see him as currently less than his former deep threat, game-breaking self he is STILL a big RZ threat at a minimum and, almost more importantly in my book, a true team leader, fire starter etc. Of the MANY impressive things the guy has done in his career the way he adapted when Godwin went down in 2024 stands out.
I hope they work it out and I hope he goes for 1000 yards and 12 TDs

Of course the offense is worse without him. He's the only true X on the roster, and can still play at an elite level.
Jeremy Fowler - "The Tampa Bay Buccaneers remain aggressive in attempting to re-sign Mike Evans. Buffalo would have been an ideal fit for Evans before the D.J. Moore trade occupied some of its available cash. The Commanders could emerge as a sleeper for Evans. Remember, he wants a quarterback and targets. Tampa remains in a good spot with Evans but is not a lock to sign him"

"“Wide receiver Mike Evans plans on exploring his options in free agency, per his agent Deryk Gilmore. The Buccaneers’ franchise leader in receiving yards and TDs, Evans will see what the market holds before making a decision on his future,” reported NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic on X, formerly Twitter."
The Bucs are just a bargaining chip for Evans to get a better deal elsewhere. How does Licht feel about that? The Bucs should put their offer on the table and leave it at that. If another team wants to overpay then let them. We don't need to be the one to overpay. If Evans really wants to win with the Bucs he wouldn't hamstring us into a bigger contract than he's really worth. If that's what his agent is doing then let him go. Licht needs to wake up and realize there's life after Evans.Jeremy Fowler - "The Tampa Bay Buccaneers remain aggressive in attempting to re-sign Mike Evans. The team's current salary structure is not set up to go out and spend on a big $$$ free agent.
It is structured for re-signs and for middle tier FAs.
I think Evans stays, Hendrickson is not a real viable option for the decision-makers, and they try to build through the draft.
You don't think $20 mil per year is "high priced"? Because that's what the going rate seems to be for Evans. How much do you think the Bucs should pay for Evans? The lowest we'll be going is $20 mil per for two years mostly guaranteed. If the Bucs are so cash strapped then Evans isn't a fit here, not when we have bigger needs than WR.The team's current salary structure is not set up to go out and spend on a big $$$ free agent.

Spiritually how much does Evans mean to the Bucs? A lot! Except that didn't mean much in the last half of last year. Apparently Evans influence didn't provide a spark. Perhaps Evans doesn't have the influence he once had with the current team. Evans is trying to hang on and be relevant for a couple more years, and what he'll provide is probably not going to equal the contract he's going to recieve. If there's going to be a bargaining war, the Bucs should bow out.
Evans is trying to hang on and be relevant
With all due respect, you’re a fucking clown.
Big red nose and all.
It is but I think he can still be very productive at a high level. This team needs him and his presence. The point I am trying to make is that Edge guys and Linebackers are plentiful in the draft this year. Talents like Mike Evans (even an aging Mike Evans) are not. I would personally find it hard to pay for a guy like Hendrickson and walk away from a guy like Evans. I think Baker and the offense need him here to be as effective as they can be.You don't think $20 mil per year is "high priced"? Because that's what the going rate seems to be for Evans.
