3 year deal would be great. He isn't a true pocket QB so the idea of watching him run around at 37 or 38 and getting killed isn't something I see being successful

Don't see any options if you want to keep winning.

we are winning now?

Won more than we lost the last 3 years. And the defensive talent is better than we’ve had the last 4 years.

And an OC that aligns with Baker’s talents, auditioning for the HC job?

Yes, I think we’re winning.

We were 8-9 last year in our most recent year.

first year - 9-8, playoff win

2nd year - 10-7, playoff loss

3rd year - 8-9, missed playoffs

seems to be the opposite of progress/winning

in terms of Baker

first year - admirable, best non Brady year in 2 decades

2nd year - Elite QB

3rd year - Mediocre, would probably need an elite D and run game to win with this guy (i.e. Darnold)

is 10-7 really what we are striving for?

again, not all Baker but yeah i am going to blame leader of offense when we are putting up 20 points or less against cream puff teams.  Certainly.

Greg Aumon referenced a stat dive by Ryan Paganetti on X.

Not only did Grizz not scheme any quick passes to help his QB when he was under duress, formation tendencies show we made it too simple - and tipped off defenses:

https://x.com/popvox24/status/2080667208380821717?s=46

This just kinda puts a finer point on the fact that yours is a short-sighted & tired argument.

You can’t acknowledge the need for a more healthy o-line this season, ignore that your QB was beaten up, without understanding the impact that your OC just wasn’t ready to call plays in the NFL. It means he left it on a veteran QB to try and make something happen that Grizz’s formation, scheme, and personnel, couldn’t. And the defense certainly wasn’t able to be counted on to keep many opposing offenses from scoring, or making stops on 3 & 28.

Its too easy to blame the QB, that’s why it won’t be a negotiation point in extending Baker.

A healthy offensive line, a competent OC, and a better defense, and yes, we’ll be winning bigly again.

Tampa will be vastly better at special teams.  This alone will get us to the 11 win mark.

Dungy’s pie chart

60% Defense

20% Offense

20% Special Teams

But then also credit him when the offense and his play specifically puts up points and wins games against the Texans and Seahawks

thats why your "last 8 games of 2025" take falls flat with most other than than JC and Biggs

That approach could get you 10 wins, and a trip up Philly for a one & done playoff run, for many years.

I think that pie chart changed when Dungy got to Indy.

and I don’t think our defense can carry 60% right now. I’d be happy if they could hold 30%, ZRob, Baker and a healthy o-line paired with a legit running game and healthy receivers could take on 50% while the defense starts figuring itself out. Looking for big things from our special teams.

I think so too.  I think the Colts were already the top 1 or 2 offenses and then Dungy brought the defense up, maybe top 10ish most seasons, but top 3 or 4 the year they won.

Getting ST to 20% would be awesome. I’d settle for a consistent 10-15% - or maybe even not being -10%.

Two areas need a lot of work/attention,  then as Fire said earlier, we need to stay healthy!

A few things to remember when dealing with people from Philly, as I have years of experience:

1. Talk really slow

2. Big words confuse them

3. They talk a big game, but when it comes to actual physical confrontation, they're softer than baby shit

4. Talk really slow

Hope this helps, my friend.

*BIG emphasis on points #1 and #4*

we had a losing record last year in the easiest division in football.  No Kudos to be given out last year.

we were winning bigly before?

don't get me wrong, i'll take the .500 ball playoff pretenders we are over the decade before Brady but let's not act like we are WINNING

and that's not all on Baker, i get it, but he is Sam Darnold essentially.

Can you win with Sam Darnold?  Sure, but then you need a better GM and Head Coach

so it's like that meme with the arrows in a circle, "We are here".....

lol, there it is . ..

Just like Biggs needs a straw man to exist in the discussion, you just switched to "no kudos" from your own take of "last 8 games" lol. Nobody says Mayfield deserves kudos for 2025. Some say its probably not fair to say Mayfield is "last 8 games of 2025."

Come on, you can post it.  You're angry, you're disappointed (we all are), but your take on Mayfield is probably unreasonable, right?

(I mean, Biggs agrees so that right there should tell you something, and you're using JC statistics. Again, that should tell you something?)

Just kidding

Fowler

“Time is of the essence because the Bucs veterans report on Tuesday,” Fowler said. “Baker Mayfield is on record that he wants a new deal by training camp."

i mean honestly, it seems you are using the first 8 games for basis that he's worth the premature contract extension (the preverbal Kudos referenced).  Surely, Baker is not as bad as his last 8 games, the most recent play of his, because otherwise we would go with Tyrod Taylor or Jacoby Brisset next year as the bridge QB as much cheaper option to the newly drafted first round QB (again, this is if he's as bad as his last 8 games)

i am assessing Bakers season as a whole and his 2025 season was the worst of his Bucs tenure.  Not cherry picking games at all here but in all, not great that it was his worst season.

Baker was playing practice squad defense before he joined the Bucs so consistency has not been his strong suit to date in his career.  This has want turned me from Baker Bro into "Hesitant Baker Bro"

and you are right, i am very angry and disappointed...particularly to only put up 17 points against a Dolphins team that quit.

Unless we are gifted a Joe Borrow trade, i also admit that Baker gives us the best chance to win in 2027 but it makes no business sense to me for them to sign him before the calendar hits 2027.

i mean honestly, it seems you are using the first 8 games

well you say "seems like" because I am not, in fact, saying that, right?

I have actually said that his work over three season/three coordinators with the Bucs probably tells you who he is with the Bucs.

And I have said that he is probably between 2023 and 2024. Depending on the metric he was something like 15th and maybe 4th or 5th, respectively, but here if you want to try to compare the time frames being dicussed using actual nubers this is what we have, just to highlight the absurdity of "last 8 games"

2023 2.8TD per INT

2024 2.5 TDs per INT

So over two seasons he is about a 2.6 TD to INT QB, right?

In 2025 I think he is about 2.3 TDs per INT, so lower than average BUT you and Biggs are arguing that he's only the period where he was 1.33 TDS per INT even though in the same season, before your weird division, he was probably 5TDs per INT

Either way though 1.33 is so far off his actual statistical average it should suggest to you and Biggs that your method is off, right? What if I said "he is a 5 TD to INT QB" because of the first 9 games or whatever? lol. Hopefully youd laugh at m
