I don't know what to make out of all this... Baker comments, Licht comments, alleged offer, Vea situation, trying to get Baker motivated etc...
What I do know is I said I didn't think we'd extend him and that we should just wait... I'm not in love with how it's being handled nor am I in love with Baker's comments to the media.
But in the end if it motivates Baker to ball out and then we have to pay more... I'm fine with that. Or franchise him.

It could indicate that the Bucs were not negotiating, and they didn’t want a long-term deal, or that someone in the ownership/front office still doesn’t think Baker has shown enough.
If true, those are problematic issues that may/may not be negotiated through.
Also, what if the tag is a transitional tag? The salary for that would be around $43m per season? Lots of variables there that aren’t conducive to good-faith negotiations. The plan to NOT offer a fitting long-term contract, may mean you’re trying to negotiate something else. Adding the implication of using the franchise/transitional tag, on your starting QB next season (and potentially again in 2028) to the fact that you they only offered a 2 year extension, it could mean they would like to force Baker into a bridge QB role.
Haven’t decided yet, but just thinking things through…but there seems to be more in this that we don’t know.
