They can't expect him to play out this deal when he has no protection against injury. Something has to be done or he'll hold out and nobody has the right to blame him.
Did he sign his name to the contract that said he has no protection against injury in 2026? Then I think he's probably expected to play by those who are paying him.
He can sit, not make a dime while being fined, and be under team control next season.
