I have said if Baker sat 2 games the Bucs might had made the playoffs last season.
Fair point, but it seem like there is almost no way that happens in the real world? Can you think of an actual parallel in recent history? I think (could be wrong) it is sort of a hindsight thing to say.
He's banged up by the 2nd game, but the Bucs are 6-2 at the bye. He's not going to be benched for the Pats game at home we almost won or the Bills game that they were in until the end or the Rams national TV game where he gets hurt.
By the AZ win the Bucs are tied with the Panthers, as I recall, so each game going forward is critical.

given how poorly Bridgewater looked, and Bucs riding a 1-4 skid, yeah it was not likely to rest baker after rams game
Now if we had browning, could be different story
Apparently lions looked at how baker performed, injuries to offensive line and said “hey now, we can’t blame teddy there, he’s our guy!”
given how poorly Bridgewater looked,
He didn't look bad. He looked like he wouldn't make the Canadian Football League.
How the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck did Trask lose out to this noodle arm statue?
Absolutely insane that he was out backup.

Amazing how much Trask CONTINUES to live in some of your guy's heads after all these years.
Sad...

Trask didn't lose out to Teddy B. Teddy B was Bowles friend and that is the best explanation.
Isnt Bridgewater with the Lions now?

yeah which is insane. Dude just straight up collecting paychecks

that’s the name. Totally forgot about trask
is he still in the league?

Is there actual evidence for this? If so... Jfc

Add him to the long list of great Gator QBs in the NFL

on paper, and clearly in preseason - Teddy B > Trask
just because Teddy B was absolute dog shit, who still managed to get another job this offseason somehow, doesn't mean Trask was the answer folks.
who still managed to get another job this offseason
It also should mean he wasnt here because he was Bowles friend lol. . Maybe hes Campbell's friend too?
Is Trask even in the league anymore? I think there were people here suggesting Bridgewater was a sneaky good pickup. . . before he got called into action.

when they signed Bridgewater, it was obvious to me it was forgone conclusion he would be the back-up
He also outplayed Trask in the preseason and thus, given his resume as well as recent performance, it was clear he was the guy
I was having trouble believing my eyes in the Rams game as he looked pretty bad but then again, the Bucs team as a whole hadn't looked good post Halloween last year anyway
Trask latched on with the Falcons practice squad last year. i think he's currently a free agent and tried out for the Saints but i dont think they signed him
Trask, no matter the college career, was not the answer. But clearly Bridgewater wasn't either
Hopefully Browning can be capable of a spot start if Baker is wearing slings and shit. Its ok if minor dings and dents but if he isn't going to be playing at at least 70%, we need a back-up capable of being capable
it was kind of a mixed bag on Bridgewater back then, but as usual a lot of faith that Trask was really the guy

a mixed bag from some....of course my "smooth brain" was pretty clear on the pecking order in the depth chart from the get go
i recall when Baker was signed, it was clear he was starter but many still thinking Trask had a shot
i dont mean to be so "hard headed", just some things are clear as day and Bucs signing Baker to compete with Trask and Bridgewater to compete with Trask were not competitions at all
