weird . . . . its like the FLU, maybe. I wonder if these guys signed their contracts??

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Drake London has officially signed a four-year contract extension to remain with the Atlanta Falcons through the 2030 season. Prior to signing his extension, London was set to play on his fifth-year option in 2026 after the organization picked it up in late April 2025.

* * *

Star running backs Bijan Robinson (5th year option) and Jahmyr Gibbs appear to be hold-ins as they seek new contracts. ("Dan Campbell noted that both sides are actively working through the situation")

Neither Robinson nor Gibbs was participating Wednesday with the Atlanta Falcons or Detroit Lions, respectively, in the first training camp practice for both teams. Both players have had conversations with their teams this offseason about potential long-term contracts.

Both players are expected to reset the running back market with their deals."

Robinson opened camp at NT which indicates to me the team anticipated this long before this made public waves.

On ourlads Capehart is listed as the backup NT but he is more of a 3 or rotational type given he is an experienced rookie so that is not entirely accurate.  Between Roberts, Roches, Simmons, Jones and Robinson the Bucs have plenty of bodies on the interior along with Capehart.  I think Vea is testing boundaries with his agent so even if he plays in 2026 for the Bucs he wants to see where he can land with a team in 2027 once FA period commences.

Given that the Bucs want to go bigger they started stacking bigger guys since last season ended into the new off season.  Roches is the only guy that isn't really that much bigger than who he is replacing (Gaines).  Josiah Green is the only other tweener among this group but Roberts is so far ahead that he has that niche on lockdown.

In the Vea scenario and the Baker scenario, the Bucs hold the cards.  We make one entity to be the bad guy over the other.  In both cases, the players are under contract and the Bucs are of their right mind to not pay them.  Imagine Baker with Zach Robinson in a contract year with a healthy Oline, deep WR room, and two solid RBs.  Should be a ton of fun for everyone.

Vea is old, he's declined, he is under contract.  Go play. Pretty simple.

Yeah, the Hugh Culverhouse school of contract negotiation.

Bold strategy Cotton, let’s see how that plays out for them.

When players are openly talking about being disrespected and a lack of communication it is not a good look.  Bowles and Licht need to really sit down and communicate what they want to do moving forward as BOTH signed those premature extensions and they have to navigate this mess.

People think that the players who get paid really good it is wanting more money. But it could be much more than that. As they need to be on the same side and page. Hoping things get talked out.

I can guarantee one thing and one thing only

If we give into Vea and pay him he will only get lazier.

Just trade him and move on. It's not like the front office is rewarding loyalty anyway outside of protecting Bowles.

Evans left

Vea is frustrated

Baker is frustrated

But thank God we signed Otton

There's nothing else to save. When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

Management is what it is at this point

Oh wait but we rewarded an injured Godwin with a big contract because Bowles left him in during a blowout.

We sure can choose em

Bucs gave KG double the money compared to White.

Bucs FO is doing everything they can to piss off former and current team captains.  It does come off as tone deaf and straight up socially challenged.  Licht needs better social awareness when doing business.

Giving McCollum that monster deal may have done more harm than good when the team captains saw that.  Because McCollum is ON RECORD saying he is bored of football. Meanwhile Evans, Baker, Vea, and White live and breathe football.

Yeah I am more disappointed with Licht this off season than Bowles. Bowles is what he is but Licht is not navigating this off season correctly.  And I am not willing to blame the Glazers on this one just because they kept Bowles. Licht could have still made better moves this off season.

You can't really judge Licht by Vea and Mayfield because you don't know their demands. You can even see that Mayfield probably describe the state of play a little unfairly

We won't know but there are red flag themes.
