clearly they think their EXISTING roster when healthy is much better than 2025 second half of the season.

On this point, the second half of the season seemed to me (in real time) to be a mostly defensive collapse BUT its just as likely the Bucs see the end of 2025 as mostly an offensive collapse attributed to an OC, Mayfield injury, a revolving door on the O-line, no run game etc.

IF they do see it that way (and there is statistical support for that view) then its even easier to see why they might think they just need better health and OC to improve, even with the loss of Evans. The 2025 offense was almost a TD per game off the 2024 offense so they probably think the 2026 offense should be more like 2024 than 2025. the 2025. The 2025 Bucs probably win 3 or 4 more games, especially down the stretch, with the offense closer to 2024 production.

“And again, everybody has injuries, but I think we had some significant challenges we had to deal with last year. It was unfortunate down the stretch – frustrating down the stretch…”

Funny, considering the healthier we got, the worse we were.

But, hey, “nObOdY wAnTs tO wIn mOrE tHaN tOdD”

12-5 with a SB appearance, fellas.

Super stoked.

Mayfield was injured in the Rams game

Before the Rams game his average rating was 98.2

His average rating from the injury game (Rams) through the close of the season was 77.6

Good thing they rolled him out there to throw a hail mary before the end of the half!!

Exactly!

We were extremely fortunate to have the genius HC heavily involved in the offense last year.

Paid massive dividends.

Licht put an absolute BULLSHIT offensive line out there all year and of course you find a way to blame Bowles

defense was ass and lost the falcons game but also won the panthers game

to me as bad as the defense was, it was the offense that shit the bed second half of season

we better hope Robinson has some magic in him as the offense without Evans is a worse

Yep I think that is the play, as I recall.

Either way though the Bucs are getting offensive players back later in the season so I get that part of DH's point, but the guy who is charged with delivering the ball to them is playing substantially worse as the season closes. It seems like that was because of injury, certainly at least in part.

And guys coming back does not = guys playing well.  Goedeke has been a rock on the line for most of his career, he came back from injury but then played a huge part in the critical loss to Carolina.  I think he had three or maybe 4 killer penalties?

So again, not sayin the Bucs are correct to feel this way, but it is statistically true that Mayfield's play declined after the injury in the Rams game so you could see why the Bucs might think that all they need is a new OC, better health on offense and plugging a few holes on defense.

Down the stretch the Bucs lost to the Saints by 4, the Falcons by 1, the Panthers by 3 and the Dolphins by 3. With the exception of the Falcons game the offense never scored more than 20 points in any of these games.

The Falcons game obviously has the epic 3rd and 28 fiasco but right before that Mayfield misses Egbuka for a 1st down that probably ends the game

The Saints loss may have been Mayfield's worst game though.  He threw a deep pick on 2nd and 1 and as I recall the Buc offense tuned it over on downs multiple times
