that would be the main reason he plays it out to show he's closer to 2024 guy then he is 2025 guy.
Or just to see what happens with the Bucs.
I think the whole division continues to be well behind the other divisions in the NFC as everyone indicates here. I do think some things differently than a lot of people do though. I think the division shakes out like this:
1. Atlanta
2. Tampa Bay
3. Carolina
4. New Orleans
The reason I go with this is because I think Tampa's ceiling for wins with Bowles is still about 8 wins and I am thinking 6 this season (hope I am wrong). I think some people forget that Raheehaw had the Falcons at 4-0 the last quarter of the season last year and in the hunt for the South before he was shown the door (and I am no Raheehaw apologist). 2 of those 4 wins came against Tampa Bay and LA Rams. I think Carolina gets bitten by a tougher schedule and I was never sold on Canales. New Orleans is rebuilding/retooling but not that far behind as some might think. I also think there aren't that many games between 1st and last in the division. I think it will be within 2 games top to bottom. That is my prediction.

Falcons got worse over the offseason. They added a good coach.
Tua is going to get destroyed, he has no mobility.
No depth being Robinson.
Overpaid for an ok WR.
Defense will be swiss cheese.
Falcons 4th or 3rd in the division

Agreed.
I have it as TB and NOLA battling for the top spot.

I'll agree with evans-is-my-daddy & disagree with both of you and say that Atlanta will finish above New Orleans. Obviously the QB spot is the question mark, but I think they are more talented overall. And their coaching staff is pretty damn good, from Stefanski to Ulbright to Callahan to Rees to Van Pelt to Toney. They have quite a bit of experience on their staff.

yeah right. if the dude was getting $50M a year, he'd play for anyone.
He is the QB of the team, he literally is one of the main components as to how successful the Bucs are.
Joe Burrow deciding that he wants to go to a more stacked team; now that's just a tad different in QB pedigree.
the fact of the matter is, if Baker throws 100 TDs next year, he's a Buc. The franchise tag
the only reason he is waiting is because IF....and that's a big IF.....the Bucs offered him a contract extension, it was lower value then he expected and he is going to prove them that he is MVP caliber guy and get that $50M a year....but yeah make no mistake...if the Bucs gave him a contract offer starting with $50M a year, he would have already signed it
but let's move the goal post as some have already done. First it was the Bucs will sign baker to an extension.....then it was......well maybe the owners dont have the cash or we cant restructure any more contracts which we both know is bullshit.....now it's Bakers idea that he wont sign the extension. like come on guys lol

and tie breaker goes too.......the Panthers! both 3-3 in division, but Panthers go 5-7 in conference while Bucs go 4-8.
Bucs start out 6-2 but two 3 game losing streaks in the second half seal their fate. Bowles gets an extension due to special teams back-up linebacker injury. It's just not fair with all the injuries.
The homer in me projected Bucs to beat the Saints in the final week so 9-8 and take the division but this story line is just juicer.
He is the QB of the team, he literally is one of the main components as to how successful the Bucs are.
Which is why dont probably look at him as 56% of the 2025 season, right?
All in good fun, but you're flip flopping across your own artificial line.
YOUR idea that Mayfield scared the Bucs off with 65% of his play from 2025 could be the reason he has no extension yet, but it could also be cap/cash, Mayfield's demands/ecpectaions, Bucs offer/expectations, time need for negotiations, the status of the Bucs as a team, etc. All of those things are much more consistent with their talk and their actions
And their coaching staff is pretty damn good, from Stefanski to Ulbright to Callahan to Rees to Van Pelt to Toney. They have quite a bit of experience on their staff.
It's aged experience (redundant I know). Ulbrich was being groomed to be a head coach about 6 years ago and his teams just weren't very good. Stefanski is a super solid hire though. Surprised he didn't try to bring Schwartz with him. Still can't believe Schwartz will be at home this season. He's the best DC in the game in my opinion.

Stefanski retained Ulbrich in January.
Schwartz was going after Cleveland's HC gig. Schwartz resigned from Cleveland in February, after not getting the top gig.

NFL is a "what have you done for me lately" game and the fact of the matter is...the last 11 games (65% of last season), Baker was a key contributor to the Bucs not winning ball games.
It's that simple. Notice, i am not not picking a game here or there...but rather his last 11. You act like im picking 3 games from 2023, 3 from 2024, and 5 from last year; no it was consecutive garbage. The Bucs were 1-4 in a mid-season stride there losing to Detroit, New England, Buffalo and LA with defense carrying the load in their only win. All this was before Baker got hurt. Unless we want to suggest that the Rams game was up for grabs being down 14-0 before they can get through player intros. Baker had 6 TDs, 4 INTs in that 5 game span so yes....the garbage play happened before his injury.
Bakers demands are that he is deserving of what other QBs of his caliber have gotten - Love, Lawrence, Hurts, Purdy, etc. $50M +. To suggest he all of a sudden is asking for $60M a year is speculation. And while i am of course "speculating" that Baker would simply want market value, i think my assumption is more reasonable.
Bucs should very well be positive in talking about Baker. Most teams are. They were very positive throughout Kyle Trask Tenure as well. It does not behoove them to be negative about their starting QB.
I stand by the notion that if Baker continued his 5-1 trajectory which was off his 2024 trajectory, he would have already been extended. The rest of you can have your moving goal post opinion as well....

Hmmm . .
Your notion was that the Bucs had misgivings about Mayfield. You have CLEARLY misgivings about Mayfield based on 11 games. You're not the Bucs FO though. But, I understood your point to be that THE BUCS agreed with you? The Bucs were not extending him because they had misgivings based on the 11 games? Your point was to describe the Bucs motivation and assign it to the contract issue.
Now your post is about Mayfield, not the Bucs. He would have been extended if the team 10 11 or 12 wins ("continued. . . trajectory").
Those are two different things, right? Youre saying the misgiving that you say existed would have been erased, but some here are saying those may not be misgiving to begin with it could just be cap/cash etc.
