Kieft isn't a lock

maybe lock was a bit too strong.  He seems like he has a clear advantage though.

Kieft has to be able to catch passes

Anyone remember Canales "featuring" Kieft as a pass catcher game 1?  I think he was 0-3

That’s a disappointment. Downhill LB in R2.

Allen available and we reach on a one dimensional LB.

Starting to really hate Licht

Lets be real.

Todd had a HUGE say in this as well.

Had to be, Trotter is a Mike, he’s not currently a coverage LB… which is what we needed here.

Trotter is Dennis replacement. LVD replacement may not come this year with Anzalone as the starter IMO.

I think Keionte Scott plays into this.

With the addition of Bain & Muhamed, (Maybe Walker) at Edge, and Anzalone, Rozeboom, (& maybe Trotter) at LB, and possibly Scott at a hybrid slot/safety/LB - as well as the DB’s on the roster - the defense will better. At least they have quality starters & rotational depth without a lot of drop off from play to play. It’s counting on a lot of players with not a lot of continuity from playing together - but some of the new pieces are mean & nasty leaders.

If Zack Robinson’s offense can approach something close to Coen’s production, and the defense now has some of the necessary pieces to make it at least NFL average (at least on paper). It also allows Bowles the pieces on defense to mask some blitzes he didn’t have before, without forcing a coverage corner into an obvious blitz package.

The depth at least allows both sides of the ball to be multiple for the first time in at least 5 years.

I would have preferred to get either a coverage/ILB and another CB that had coverage talent - but the talent wasn’t deep enough in this draft - but it could work.

Getting Bain is the key that at least gives the “sum-of-it’s-parts” defensive strategy a chance to work.

We’ll see.

It's just a bad pick. No two ways around it.

Honestly, at the moment of the picks, I thought Keionte Scott and Bauer Sharp were awful picks for what was available later - but factoring we had a terrible return game last season - both picks have ST experience and was likely part of the decision. Having a DB that has a 4.36 40 yd dash, but has no coverage awareness looked especially silly…unless you’re giving your new ST coach a game-changer option, while also have an idea of utilizing a hybrid at slot/safety/LB.

Apparently Bauer Sharp also has ST experience. Had to give ST Coordinator Danny Smith some additional pieces to work with this season. There has to be some talent to augment the coaching upgrade at ST.

I like the Scott pick.

Sharp is gonna be camp fodder.

Trotter will play in blitz packages

Bain will be an instant difference maker setting the edge

Hurst will see some time in the red zone and in 5 wide packages

Outside of Bain I see a bunch of situational players.

That's why this draft is in the C+/B- range for me

But always better to evaluate after the season. Hurst could be the steal of the draft and then it's an A.

But right now given the value and given the reaching and what was already there... It's not a great draft.

Depth and situational players and Bain

I’d agree with most of this, technically, when just looking at the draft. Especially considering what last season revealed were our needs.

However, when factoring-in the post-season free-agent additions, this draft gives a different take on the roster. A’Shawn Robinson, Al Quadin Muhamed, Anzalone, Rozeboom, even Nacho…

The defensive roster has the parts that these draft picks can potentially maximize.

Bain was the key piece, the two X factors may be Scott & possibly Hurst.

Hiw long it takes for all these various FA’s and draft picks to gel and learn the system has yet to be established, but there is starting potential and rotational depth at the areas of critical need.

DT, ST, and G were also addressed.

Pretty solid roster that should allow us to be competitive this season.

Licht watched the interior offensive line struggle all year but he chose to reach on a wr4 over a guard that could have gone in the first but fell to the third. Jax got a steal.

The draft was a weird mix of situational players to compete now, and also projects that probably won't be able to contribute substantially until next year.

I'm a broken record but it's tough to look at this draft and think we could have had Allen and Pregnon instead of reaching b2b rounds.

Even with the low grades all of the reviews in the article mention Pregnon as the great value.

Yeah it was a bad draft for them but Pregnon was a great pick.

At worst he provides excellent depth. We really could have used that depth instead of taking a wr who would be there in the 4th.

I'm not understanding why Licht trades up to reach
