Did we just trade up to grab the 24th ranked TE?
I'm not understanding how adding a 4th TE that isn't athletic or good, is going to help this team when Lawson is still there at LB.
Weird
I get the point that it is one data point and you aren't wrong, Fire. But there are other measurables that go into that score PLUS they rank them overall and by the position. That means everybody in the draft class is measured on the same measurable. He was 2nd (.02% behind #1) for the entire DT draft class. That means something. Time will tell but I am hopeful.Do you know what a RAS score is? Do you understand what a RAS score is? Do you know how NFL scouts use the RAS score? He was 2nd in the entire draft at the DT position. He doesn't need to be NFL ready right now especially as a 5th round pick and the Bucs already have Vea, Kancey, and Robinson currently. But he is a FANTASTIC piece to the middle of the defensive line for when a real head coach gets here with a real DC. This is a long term vision piece that is needed because the current DT pieces on the Bucs roster aren't "it" long term and Vea isn't going to be here forever. Capehart is also another run-stopper, which is what you want up the middle and he has the size and speed to disrupt the O-Line at the line of scrimmage. This is a great pick.Love love love the Capehart pick.
Why? Not saying you're wrong but he started 12 games in 6 seasons.
He's nfl ready I guess with that age.
I liked other players more I listed above
I know what it is...it's combine metric vs the past performance relative to position.
It's one data point...
6 years in college with that few starts and very limited productivity is a major concern. The analytics might outweigh that concern idk...
We needed dt depth so I'm fine with it I guess

All fair points. Worst can scenario we have some depth
Yes, that is correct. He might not ever be more than depth, but the forecast is much greater than just depth. The rest is up to him and coaching. But he is a FANTASTIC piece to the middle of the defensive line for when a real head coach gets here with a real DC. Good point.
On the RAS part, I read he had a great 40 for his size, obviously, and alos I think broad jump or some other measure of athleticism
Totally agree. This TE pick was a complete head scratcher. I hate it if I am being honest. This draft went from being an easy "A" to about a B- to a C. That is on Licht and Bowles. It had the potential to be a much greater draft than they have chosen.Did we just trade up to grab the 24th ranked TE?

Weird
I like the TE pickup. If he can push Kieft off the roster with his blocking, but also bring some juice that is a win. Durham/Culp will have to battle it out but I think the final four will be Otton, Durham, Culp and Sharp. Culp is the smallest TE on the roster but with a Robinson offense he has an edge over Kieft. Kieft will have to impress new ST coach Smith to stick around IMO.
It's just weird to be to draft as if we are a contender
We have a HC capable of winning the SB.
Of course we’re a contender.
Biggs will be by momentarily to give you a little love
