People make too much of the Bucs’ edge rushers dropping in coverage. As OLBs, that is going to be their responsibility some of the time. Any team playing in a 3-4 base is going to do this. I’m not worried, as I believe Bowles can see what he has in Bain. Barrett had a 19 sack season as an OLB in Bowles' defense.
It's one thing if the guy can do it. If he can't don't put him repeatedly in a position to fail. We want to maximize a players potential for big plays as much as we can.

Lol, the OLB coverage thing is sort of the low hanging fruit of Bowles bashing. Partially based in reality, partially in frustration.
Zone blits, overloads, drop outs and sim pressures are common packages for all defenses, not just Bowles lmao. Part of many succesful defenses. None of those defense are expecting OLB to cover a player downfield or for an extended period. The drop is misdirection for the pressure to get there. if it works no one say anything (Bowles) or they praise the DC as a genius (not Bowles). It doesn't work the DC is the goat (small "g"), so its just venting for the "real fans" who dont "accept mediocrity" . .. or at least who have not for the last four years!

I guess it's semantics but I don't view top 15 as mediocre. But it is right in the middle so I guess I understand.
In my mind mediocre isn't the same as average (which is what 15th would be). Mediocre to me is 18-24ish.
This unit I think is a 12-18 unit if it can stay healthy. We don't have the super star but we have one of the deepest units with a good mix of youth and experience.
McMillan for me could be a wild card. He looks bigger and he doesn't have the wear and tear of most 3rd year players. I'm expecting the big 3 to bring in almost 2.5-3k yards if they stay healthy.

Just have to hope the frequency isn't enough to disrupt the OLB ability to create constant pressure. Giving an OL a free vacation or rest on a play is not creating pressure or wearing out an OL with constant fire zone drops of OLB. Quickest way to wear out an OL is if they have to pass block every play a rush defender.
In his 3 seasons at Miami, Bain dropped into coverage 21 total times (less than 2% of his total snaps).
He should eclipse those numbers by the BYE week of his rookie season.
I'm guessing he'll drop back on 15% - 17% of his snaps, because Todd is gonna' Todd.
