Mayfield out 3 weeks?
let's hope he doesnt try to rush back.Â
its stupid he's even injured. 4th and 13 in the 4th trying to make a desperate play running around like a chicken
but we all agree Bowles made the right call to go for it, right?
the offense hasn't done shit all day and just needed to complete a pass to convert.
If Bowles would have punted and defense gave up a first down, clock runs out, Bowles be getting blasted for not going for it
He 100% had to go for it even though we knew it was a fruitless effort with the anemic offenseÂ
yep! That was a fascinating moment if you think of it from the Red Board perspective.
The defense is playing very well so punt and get the same or better field position with a stop.
BUT, if they punt then the Red Board explodes about "conservative" Bowles, especially if they dont get the stop lol.Â
BUT, his "flaw" in the past has been belief in his defense, so he should go for it!
BUT, the analytics say there was only a .02% of winning, so he should've told Baker to take a knee save him form himself!!
By going for it he is "aggressive" Bowles lmao, so maybe that quiets some of the criticism?
I think that decision could go either way, myself, but the Red Board tends to have things both ways.
Now, where is that thread on Offense first downs? Ya know, "is it unfair to expect the offense to make a 1st down every once and a while?"

I don't think there's a reason to talk about that honestly. So many things before this thats been wrong and is on bowles so it's pointless imo. What's that saying a broken clock is correct at some point.Â
Sure his defense is playing well but he can have a defense playing well for a bit but then his stubborn self gets in the way eventually. He's a mediocre to bad hc. People a long time ago knew he wasn't going to do anything real with this team. Amazing he got the job to begin with. Damn bruce arians.Â
it’s the Philadelphia fan in me.
The worst fan base in all of sports?Â
When Bucs play eagles in Raymond James, how’s the stadium look?
Like it's filled with raging psychosÂ
touche.
but one fan base is passionate about their sports, almost to a fault; would have never prematurely rewarded Baker after his play in 2025. Shit, there may have been cries for a QB competition he played so poorly down the stretch.
The tampa fan base? I mean, selling their tickets to opposing teams fans.....Which is worse?Â
so yeah i'm Philadelphia in terms of the other sports and i am more of a "what have you done for me lately" which is why many were taken bake on my sudden dislike for Baker. Dude was key contributor to the collapse last year and he managed to follow it up with an encore this year. He is cooked as the Gen Zs would sayÂ

oh, you wanted him to punt there?

I didn't have a problem with going for it on fourth down and 8 or less, but the distance was questionable.
You also have to consider this was the first time in a long time where the defense actually did it's job and got the ball back for the offense quite a bit. Could they have held up again? Maybe not, but they had proven there were better odds on Sunday than any game in recent memory.
I'm not really blaming Bowles here, just pointing out that distance was definitely questionable - especially with how the offense had played all day.

Baker, the O line, and the offense was pathetic. They weren't converting from 4th and 1, let alone 4th and 13
just saying, them punting and even getting the ball back with less time would have ended with the same result. Â
Dont fault him at all there because on the flip side, a punt and an addision first down and game is cooked and we are all mad at him for being a pussy.Â

Sounds like you're saying they should have punted...

Probably, which is why I'm not really blaming him for it.
By the way, you notice how nobody is really blaming the defense for the loss? It's because they did their job and got stops, something they haven't been very good at in the other two games.

No, i'm saying this game was loss as soon as special teams gave up a touchdown. Because how anemic the offense has been. It didn't matter if Bucs punted, went for it, or maybe even converted there, the game was over.Â
and yeah it was way too egregious that the defense actually played good so wouldn't have expected any non-sensical behavior as to blame the defense. I think this game finally woke up many to the fact that the offense has been rather ass and key contributor to the collapse last year as well
i outlined in another thread, but starting at 6-5 last year with 6 winnable games to end the year. Plus the 3 this year. 9 game sample size.
The offense played mid to good in 1 out of the last 9 games. that was the Atlanta game. Still couldn't top 30 points but 28 points is solid. Â
They played poor in 8 out of the last 9 games. Meaning they couldn't even top 20 points in any other game. The league average is 23. Yet still because of the defense, they were able to win 2 games, 20-17 over Arizona and 16-14 over Carolina.
the defense on the other hand, i would say played great in 4 out of the last 9 games - 17 points to Cardinals, 20 to Miami (having to overcome 3 Baker TOs), 14 to Carolina, and thjis past week with basically 13 points to Minnesota (taking out special Teams TD and turnover on downs in field goal range at end of game)
They played poor i'd suggest in 1 out of the last 9 games which was ironically the Atlanta game, the only game that the offense showed up
The other 4 games i would define as mid. Defense played not great, not good, but not poor. Mid enough that if we had any resemblance of an offense, we could win the game with 23 pts against Cincy and Cleveland this year, along with 24 and 23 against NO and CAR last year
Again, we all want Bowles gone, but make no mistake about it, the offense is a real problem.Â

Godwin was injured on late play where probabilities were 98% loss and Bowles was to blame
Mayfield injured on a late play that would have "ended with the same result" if it was a punt . . except Mayfield wouldn't be injured.
And agree IF he punts and they do not hold then he is a "pussy" who should never rely on his defense (that was getting stops in the game0
Highlighting the "damned if you do, damned if you dont" nature of NFL head coach decision-making
LMAO

well to me, the Godwin play was crazy. The Bucs were down 41-18 at a point in the 4th quarter with like 6 minutes to go.
It's then 41-31 with under 2 minutes to go and no timeouts left. You already recovered an onside kick, you are telling me you are going to get 2 possessions with no timeouts?
the Ravens had a 95% chance or better to win from the 3rd quarter on and it was basically at 99, 100% once the score was 34-10
Yeah Bowles having his guys out there in a game that was over was silly and they just padded their stats when the Ravens were no longer caring. He should have waived the white flag long ago to not risk injury.Â
This past Sunday, what Baker have like 60 yards passing in the second half? Yeah, you gotta go for it there but it didnt matter because the Bucs offense wasn't going to score a touchdown in the second half.Â
Yeah, you gotta go for it there
You really don't... Anyone with eyes watching the game could assess this..
oh, you wanted him to punt there?
interesting.Â
Again were you watching the game?
4th and 13? No fucking way.
The call on third down needed to set up 4th and short but the offense was a joke.
It seemed hopeless in large part but the defense played well enough to warrant giving them a chance to make a stop.

and my point of Baker having 60 yards passing in the second half?
the Bucs weren't scoring a TD anyway so the score either 20-16, 20-19 at best
ended up 23-16....not the end of the world.Â
