Simpletons??

Correct. Confirmation is always appreciated.

I’ve pointed out the lack of top level talent on this roster before and all the Licht apologists told me I was wrong. Bowles is definitely the main problem, but Licht isn’t exactly doing a great job since the Super Bowl run either. He needs to do better for this team.

Yeah, the talent gap is shrinking between Tampa Bay and the other three teams in the division. Not getting much from first picks in JTS, Hall, & Kancey exacerbate that problem, and those guys are on Licht/Bowles.

Evans left for a variety of reasons ONE being the Bucs prospects in 2026 (and that falls ultimately on Bowles, Licht and the Glazers), especially compared to the prospects for the 49ers.

But its equally true that the rest of the NFL did NOT perceive 2026 Evans to be anything like 2016 Evans. That is the TRUTH born out by free agency and the contract negotiations and even the contract he ultimately signed and that was the point of Prisco.

Evans may have his best season yet (in recent years) with the huge chip that is undoubtedly on his shoulder. Not to mention much better offense and team. He should be the go to RZ target and the go to crunch time chain mover, contested catch, bail out receiver for Purdy. Maybe splitting some of that with Kittle, if Kittle is healthy So, to his credit, maybe closer to the the way he played in 2024 with Godwin out.

Sucks, but good for him.

No one lost this off-season as it relates to Evans.  Will have a #5 jersey and will root like hell for him.

Me too.

Few people probably remember this or focus on it, but when Evans first comes to the Bucs he's a little bit of a confused kid and a hothead. He rapidly matured and became not only a HOF player (ie fully realized his potential), but sort of a HOF professional in every sense of that word. I have read him credit some of that to Vincent Jackson, which has its own bitter sweet irony, but whatever it was he overcame it and carved his own path and its been a truly beautiful thing to watch. A pro's pro.

I think Evans left for many reasons. Not solely on Bowles but certainly the biggest factor and the massive fold down the stretch... Including but not limited to the Falcons game

Licht needs some home runs to really carry any momentum for this team.  This team needs players like Bain and Scott to come out guns blazing as rookies.  Egbuka almost did it last year, but ran out of gas by the mid way point/

Licht can not stake his legacy on drafting NFL average starters to build a team.  Especially as the 2020 SB team is phased out.

I think Evans left for many reasons...

None of them would be Bowles.

He's such an incredible leader.

Year after year, we've seen this team fight for him.

I feel bad for Mike, considering the downgrade he now has at head coach.

come on….who doesn’t enjoy that Todd Bowles locker room post victory low energy “yeeeeaaaaaah” after barely beating the jets

It's probably time to extend him to a 100 year contract and develop the elixir of immortality.

Rank the best "Bucs HC" O/U bets of 2026:

Bowles Bucs 8.5 (-130)

Canales Panthers 7.5 (+110)

Coen Jaguars 8.5 (+120)

Bucs and Panthers have tough schedules

They get the NFC and AFC North

in the non common games

Bucs get Cowboys, Chargers, and Rams

Panthers get Eagles, Broncos, and Seahawks

the winner of division could have 8 wins.

i still think Bucs have the best chance to win division but for the odds when Bowles led teams have supported 8, 9, 10, and 8 win seasons....not sure id take that bet.  While i think 9-8 is a possibility, i can also see just as easily 7-10.

Jacksonville is coming off a 13 win season

they have the NFC East and AFC North, Patriots, Broncos, and Bears.  Certainly not an easy schedule there either but with them having 13 wins last year, you gotta give them the respect

i'd probably rank it like this

1. Jaguars

2. Bucs

3. Panthers

a better game i like to play: is mediocre Todd Bowles already in the Bucs ring of honor or does he have to accomplish more?

I know Donkey Hunter doesn't want to hear it but clearly the Glazers love the man if not evident by them keeping him after an embarrassing collapse in our 50 year anniversary.

in terms of reasoning:

  • despite how unimpressive they are, he is tied with Gruden for franchise high 3 division titles
  • he was the defensive coordinator that shut down a Mount Rushmore QB in the Superbowl
  • Other coaches in the Ring - John McKay, Jon Gruden (Super Bowl), Tony Dungy, Bruce Arians (Super Bowl), and Monte Kiffin

do i think he deserves it?  No.  I'd probably put it a coin flip, 50% chance as of today he gets in

But if he wins another division this year, at 9-8 and Bucs get smacked in first round of playoffs, i think he's a "Build that Statue" shoe in.

If Bowles can have this .500 club make the playoffs and win a playoff game they will erect a statue of him at Ray Jay and the Glazers will cover the cost and not ask taxpayers for a hand out.

The Jaguars are the interesting one to me because they haven't really had a big offseason and Coen has talked about changing it all up to stay ahead.  They also had 31 takeaways in 2025.

The O/U seems low so does that mean Vegas is seeing them come back down to earth
